Actor Matt Damon and talk show host Jimmy Kimmel are still embroiled in a hilarious, fictional feud.
The two celebrities are in the news once more as a result of their opportunity to insult one another at the recent premiere of the new film “Air,” in which Matt Damon stars.
Damon said it was unlikely that he and Kimmel would ever reconcile when asked about it by Entertainment Tonight. He referred to Kimmel as an “a-hole,” and asked rhetorically why would he ever make amends with him.
Damon turned to face Kimmel, who was directly behind him, and continued to insult him, calling him a terrible human being, adding that he would have loved to take a photo with him but that they were out of time.
In 2005, at the end of an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the host said that he wanted to apologize to Matt Damon but they had run out of time. The remark became famous and started the 18-year continuous comic conflict.
The lighthearted argument between the two celebrities eventually turned into a recurring theme on the show.
On March 27, Kimmel spoke with Entertainment Tonight at the “Air” world premiere, which was held at the Regency Village Theatre in Los Angeles. Kimmel seized the opportunity to insult Damon, saying he had heard the actor nearby because he was so loud, but did not know who Damon was.
Kimmel claimed that Damon was the person who wore the infamous cocaine bear costume to the Oscars in February, but Damon denied this.
The jokes follow Kimmel’s hosting of the Academy Awards ceremony a few weeks ago. When he questioned actress Jessica Chastain about the challenges of filming “The Martian,” with Matt Damon, Kimmel poked fun at his nemesis and said her co-star can’t read and always smells like dog medicine.
Additionally, Kimmel said to Entertainment Tonight that he doesn’t think there will ever be a reconciliation on his show.
