There has been a lot of speculation about the attendance of Prince Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, at King Charles’ coronation, scheduled to occur on May 6th. Queen Consort Camilla, now officially called Queen Camilla, will also be crowned.
According to sources, Prince Harry, and Meghan Markle’s spokesperson gave a statement via a representative about their attendance, saying they have not yet decided whether to attend the coronation.
The non-decision comes after Prince Harry was in London for a lawsuit against publishers of the Daily Mail, Associated Newspapers, Ltd. He made a surprise courtroom appearance.
In his witness statement, Prince Harry criticized the royal family’s handling of the British press, revealing that he felt they had withheld information about The Sun’s publishers hacking his phone. He also expressed that stepping back from his senior royal family role and moving to the US had opened his eyes to the situation.
According to the youngest prince, the institution had been withholding information from him for years about his phone being hacked by News Group Newspapers (NGN), which published The Sun. He said he had only recently gained clarity on the situation in recent years after pursuing his claim with different legal representation.
Prince Harry had become increasingly troubled by the royal family repeatedly not taking action against the British press amid vicious and sometimes racist articles about Meghan, her past life, and her family. The royal family, which has a “never complain, never explain” policy, did not comment on Harry’s witness statement or its claims.
The relationship between the King and his son Prince Harry drifted further apart after it was confirmed that Harry and Meghan had been ordered by King Charles to vacate Frogmore Cottage. The couple was reportedly stunned by the King’s request.
