An unidentified man from Florida lost part of his right leg in an alligator attack at an RV park in Brevard County. The incident happened on April 14 at the Great Outdoors RV and Golf Resort in Titusville. The victim, a 72-year-old man, was airlifted to a medical center in Melbourne for treatment, and his condition is currently unknown.

According to reports, the alligator attacked the man and pulled off his leg before retreating into the water. Officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) and the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office tracked down some alligators near the site and found one of them with a human foot in its mouth. The FWC trapped and killed two alligators after the attack as one of the officers recovered the victim’s foot from the alligator’s mouth.

Speaking to a news outlet, a resident of the RV park advised people to be cautious around the water as alligators were frequently seen in the area during their mating season. A spokesman for Gatorland warned against feeding alligators, which could lead to them losing their fear of humans.

The incident was reported to the authorities by Brevard County Fire Rescue (BCFR) officials, and a nuisance alligator trapper responded to the scene, according to a statement by the FWC.
