A one-year-old child has died, and a two-year-old is in critical condition after a tragic driveway accident.

The horrific incident occurred when two toddlers were playing in the driveway of a home in Oklahoma while a 63-year-old man was maneuvering his pickup truck into the driveway.

According to a report released by the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the incident happened around 5 pm on Monday, April 24. A 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck unintentionally ran over two girls. Upon receiving the distress call, state troopers and other first responders swiftly arrived at the home, about two miles south of Cleora in Delaware County. First responders rushed the injured girls to a nearby hospital due to the severity of their injuries.

Police identified the driver as 63-year-old Scott Barr.

The one-year-old child was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Vinita, where she was pronounced dead on arrival, succumbing to head injuries sustained during the accident. The two-year-old girl was transferred to St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa, where she was in critical condition due to internal injuries.

Police have decided not to disclose the children’s identities to the public due to their ages. Currently, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating the incident to find out the circumstances of the collision. It remains unknown whether the driver, a resident of Afton, has any familial relationship with the children.

Authorities have not released any more details about the case, including whether they will arrest and charge Barr in connection to the girl’s death.
