Angelina Jolie was spotted having lunch with David Mayer de Rothschild, a British billionaire environmentalist, which sparked speculation and gossip about the meeting.
On Thursday, March 23, the couple was seen leaving Nobu, a popular Malibu restaurant, and they appeared to be having a good time. Their “date” over lunch was said to have lasted about three hours.
The 47-year-old actress, who was wearing a simple black dress with cut-outs in the middle, black heels, and black sunglasses, was seen smiling as the pair left the celebrity hotspot.
Mayer de Rothschild, 44, a billionaire and member of the world’s wealthiest family, smiled at the paparazzi and laughed with Jolie as they walked to their cars.
According to Jolie’s representatives, the meeting was all business. The couple appeared to be having fun while working. They both enjoy helping people and being active.
Mayer de Rothschild is an environmentalist and the spokesperson for the Hyundai IONIQ, which is available as an electric or hybrid vehicle.
Jolie announced months ago that she would be leaving her position as a special representative for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees; the UNHCR announced the change in December of last year, and Jolie confirmed it by saying she was grateful for the opportunity to work with field officers and do work that saved lives all over the world.
After 20 years of working for the UNHCR, Jolie felt it was time to help refugees in a different way, saying she wanted to meet with refugees and local groups face to face and support their efforts to find solutions.
Jolie left the UNHCR to work with organizations led by people who have been directly affected by war.
The actress has not been in a public relationship since her breakup with Brad Pitt in 2016. Although they have not completed their divorce due to disagreements over child custody and property, they are no longer legally married as of 2019.
According to the New York Times, David Mayer de Rothschild married in 2020, but his current relationship status is unknown.
