Actor Joaquin Phoenix Collapsed on The Set of His New Movie

Renowned actor Joaquin Phoenix, who is known for his captivating performances, reportedly collapsed during filming of a scene for his latest project, the horror-comedy film “Beau is Afraid.” 

The incident took place during a take for co-actress Patti LuPone’s intense scene, and Phoenix, who plays the lead character Beau, vanished from the frame before the director discovered him collapsed around the corner. 

Director Ari Aster, who shared the story during the movie’s first public screening at the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema in New York, initially expressed annoyance that Phoenix fainted during someone else’s take, causing the scene to be redone after a great take. Still, he later praised the actor for his commitment to his craft.

“Beau is Afraid” follows a paranoid man’s journey to get home to his mother and stars Nathan Lake, Parker Posey, Amy Ryan, Kylie Rogers, Denise Menochet, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Hayley Squares, Michael Gandolfini, Richard Kind, and Phoenix, who received praise for his performance as the anxiety-ridden protagonist.
