Trump Mad at Fox News for Supporting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis

Former US President Donald Trump vented his anger at Fox News on Monday, February 27, accusing the news agency of downplaying his popularity over Governor Ron DeSantis after a new Fox poll showed Trump ahead of his contender by 15 points.

Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to rant about his dissatisfaction with Fox News, which he claimed was promoting his male counterpart so hard that they left no time for real news.

He wrote that despite Fox polls always being intentionally terrible for him, the latest one showed him crushing DeSantis and yet the network had barely shown it.

The former president also threw one more jab at the network, asking whether there was another big network that wanted to make a fortune through something other than reporting fake news.

Trump was referring to a news poll by Fox published on Sunday, February 26, that had him leading the Florida governor by 15 points in the 2024 presidential election’s face-off. Trump felt personally attacked because the network did not give the poll enough airtime even though, according to Forbes, it was mentioned at least twice on air.

The fallout between Trump and Fox News has become more apparent in recent months, with the former president repeatedly lashing out against the network.

While many FOX hosts continue to side with Trump, some have been noticeably less supportive of him since the midterm elections. The network’s owner, Rupert Murdoch has been seeking to distance the media empire from Trump as he turns toward DeSantis, potentially Trump’s biggest Republican rival.

During a deposition hearing for the Dominion Voting Systems lawsuit against Fox News, Murdoch admitted that several of the network’s hosts had endorsed 2020 election rigging conspiracy theories.

After court documents revealed that some of the hosts and executives had privately considered Trump’s election fraud claims “mind-blowingly nuts” and “ludicrous” while publicly supporting him, Trump said the network was “Republican in name only.”

Governor DeSantis has yet to announce his 2024 presidential bid. The Fox News poll showed the former president ahead of DeSantis, who was ahead of Nikki Haley by 20 points.
