A horrible car crash was reported on a Tennessee highway early on Sunday, March 23, north of Nashville. According to the Robertson County Emergency Medical Services (RCEMS), the vehicle was found at around 2 a.m., turned upside down and badly damaged.
Six of the vehicle’s passengers died due to the accident. The fatalities included six girls aged between one year and 18 years old. All had been ejected from the vehicle.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol said that the victims did not appear to be wearing seatbelts. The cause of the accident has not been made clear yet.
Two other adults, a man and a woman, were said to have been injured. The woman, 34-year-old Saira Reyes, was critically injured and was given first aid at the scene. Afterward, she was brought to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville via air ambulance. The male driver, 18-year-old Anthony Gallardo, was taken to TriStar Skyline Trauma Center, also in Nashville. His condition is currently stable.
Another vehicle was spotted near the damaged car. Its driver was reportedly uninjured.
Authorities implored residents to take the time to make sure that all occupants of vehicles have their seatbelts fastened.
