Missing Chicago Woman Found Dead and Tied Up In Shopping Cart

Not far from where she had last been seen, a young Chicago woman, who had been missing for two months, was found dead, wrapped in a sheet, and bound to a shopping cart.

On January 18, surveillance video showed Rosa Chacon, age 21, getting into a ride-share in front of her parents’ Chicago home.

Chacon’s mother confirmed to a local media outlet that her daughter had informed her that she would be using an Uber to travel to and from her destination that day. Her mother claims that she didn’t tell her where she was going, whom she was meeting, or who had ordered the Uber.

Chacon left the house, according to her mother, without a coat or an ID.

According to an Uber representative, the company’s policies and privacy concerns prevent it from disclosing information. The key to the case is figuring out who ordered the Uber.

The family was not pleased with the police’s response to their aid request after Chacon vanished in January. Alejandro Guzman, the young woman’s boyfriend, was informed by the police that a crime must be committed before they will open a case.

Chacon’s body was found in a back alley on March 15 at 10:45 a.m., about two miles from where she was last seen. Her family was capable of identifying her due to her tattoos.

The cause of death will be determined by an autopsy.

Jose Lucio, Chacon’s father, remarked that it was unusual for his daughter to leave without contacting her parents because she usually kept in touch.

On March 6, the family hired a private detective to help with the search for their missing daughter. On social media, they posted a flyer asking for help finding her, and on Thursday they tragically announced her death.

The family is hoping that finding out who requested the Uber will reveal information about what happened to their daughter.

The investigation into Chacon’s death is still ongoing and a $15,000 reward is being offered.
