A Georgia woman was convicted of murder in the death of her fiancée and concealing his murder for two months while living with his corpse until law enforcement officers discovered he was dead.

A Hall County jury found 46-year-old Tabitha Zelida Wood guilty of murdering her fiancée and concealing his death for a couple of months, according to court documents.

Eighty-two-year-old Leroy Franklin Kramer, Jr’s stepdaughter called the police in June 2022 and reported that she was very concerned for his safety because she had been unable to contact him for several months, which was odd.

Deputies from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office went to perform a welfare check on Kramer at his home and made the chilling discovery. They found Kramer’s decomposed body inside the home and immediately took Wood into custody.

Investigators began questioning Wood about the man’s death. She told them that Kramer had died at the beginning of April and that she had been living at the residence with his dead body ever since.

The medical examiner performed an autopsy on Kramer and determined the man’s manner of death to be a homicide. According to the sheriff’s office, Kramer’s cause of death was blunt and sharp force trauma.

On Friday, March 17, the jury found Wood guilty of malice murder, aggravated assault, two felony murder counts, concealing the death of a person, exploiting an older adult, and financial transaction card theft.

The court has yet to announce the date for Wood’s sentencing.
