“Dead” Syrian Man Rescued from Earthquake Comes Back to Life

Numerous miracles occurred after the earthquakes that struck Turkey and Syria at the beginning of last month, but one story about a man who was rescued from under the rubble in Syria but later “resurrected” during his funeral procession stands out.

Ahmad Al-Magribi was rescued from the rubble of a collapsed building in the Syrian village of Atarib. As he was unresponsive when rescuers extracted him, and medical personnel were unable to revive him, his body was sent to the morgue.

He was unresponsive for two days at the morgue before family members arrived and identified him.

Mortuary workers bagged up Al-Magribi’s body after his loved ones identified him, and took him to a cemetery not far away.

When the man inside the bag, who had been presumed dead, was discovered to be alive just before the funeral procession began, everyone in attendance was shocked.

His loved ones were still reeling from the unexpected resurrection of a loved one, but they quickly got over their shock and rushed him back to the hospital. He received care and was monitored while in the facility.

Local media outlets speculated that the man’s heart may have stopped and restarted, but this was just one of many explanations put forth for the man’s apparent resurrection. The morticians couldn’t explain it.

Many people were dug out of the quake rubble after being buried for around 200 hours.

There haven’t been many natural disasters on par with the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria. Over 50,000 people have been killed in both countries, with Turkey suffering the most casualties.

The 7.8 magnitude quake that hit Turkey and Syria on February 6 was followed by a 7.6 magnitude aftershock a few hours later. Massive destruction was brought on by the earthquakes, with the majority of buildings collapsing.

Many of the survivors were afraid to go back to their homes, and others were forced to sleep in the open or in their cars because of gasoline shortages and frequent power outages.
