Gwyneth Paltrow’s ex-husband Chris Martin is making headlines just one week after Paltrow sparked outrage over her intermittent fasting diet.
The Coldplay frontman revealed his strict diet during an episode of the “Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend” podcast that aired on Monday, March 20. The 46-year-old pop star said he does not eat dinner anymore and stops eating at 4 pm daily, a habit he picked up from Bruce Springsteen.
Martin told O’Brien he had lunch with Springsteen last year after his band played in Philadelphia. Even though he was on a strict diet then, he says Springsteen appeared to be in better shape than him, and Springsteen’s wife, Patti Scialfa, told him that Springsteen only has one meal a day.
Martin decided to take up the challenge.
Martin also joked that his only meal of the day was a buffalo flank with a steroid sauce.
Martin’s diet revelations came only a week after his ex-wife’s announcement of her minimal diet made headlines and garnered a lot of backlash for the “Shakespeare in Love” movie star.
Paltrow spoke during an appearance on the “Art of Being Well” podcast with Dr. Will Cole. The actress, who split from Martin in 2014, said that she usually has something to eat at around 12. She prefers foods that will not spike her blood sugar, so she generally takes coffee in the morning and soup for lunch.
To many people’s surprise, Paltrow told Dr. Cole that she had bone broth for lunch.
The actress tries to do an hour of daily exercise, doing walks, pilates, or workouts.
Paltrow told the doctor that she likes lots of vegetables for dinner, which supports her detox.
As soon as the podcast dropped, the internet was up in arms over what most people said was her promoting a meal plan that encourages disordered eating. The actress, however, denied the claims.
Paltrow said on Instagram that she was focused on anti-inflammatory foods such as proteins, vegetables, and healthy carbs, which have been working well for her.
The actress defended her eating habits, saying that she does not eat like that all day, every day, adding that she eats much more than vegetables and bone broth.
