On March 15, in Malibu, California, world famous actor Dick Van Dyke was involved in a minor accident after losing control of his car and slamming into a gate.

According to reports, the 97-year-old actor skidded on the slick road before he lost control of his vehicle.

The elderly actor reportedly had a bloody mouth and nose as a result of the car accident.

When Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department officers got there, they discovered the actor sitting in his LS 500 Lexus.

Van Dyke was given first aid at the scene by firefighters from Los Angeles. The 97-year-old man, however, was reportedly picked up by a friend who drove him home and did not accompany paramedics to the hospital.

Police officers requested that the celebrity retake his driving test in a report they submitted to the Department of Motor Vehicles.

There was no indication that drugs or alcohol contributed to the accident.

The actor was involved in a more serious accident in Los Angeles nearly ten years ago, which led to a rescue from his burning car.

Van Dyke was pulled from his burning vehicle by emergency personnel before he realized what had happened. The car started making noises that he had initially mistaken for a flat tire before it started to smoke and burn, he told reporters at the time.

Rescuer Jason Pennington said he pulled over to assist Van Dyke after spotting the smoking Jaguar by the side of the road with an elderly driver slumped over the wheel.

The 1960s television program “The Dick Van Dyke Show,” the movies Bye Bye Birdie (1963), Mary Poppins (1964), and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) are what made Dick Van Dyke most well-known.
