Many viewers were shocked when actor Will Smith went up on stage during last year’s Oscar Awards and slapped comedian Chris Rock across the face.

Almost a year after that night and with the 2023 Academy Awards right around the corner, Will Smith decided to have fun and joke about the 2022 Oscars incident on TikTok.

A user on the popular social media platform made a video asking other users to take any inanimate object in their possession and ask it what it thinks about them. Sam Rossi, the user who posted the original video, wrote in the video’s caption that it works because everything, living or not, has consciousness.

Rossi says in the video that someone can pick up a pen and ask it what it thinks of them. She says the answer comes to a person’s mind as intuition.

Will Smith, a regular TikToker, saw the video and decided to “duet” it. In his duet video, while listening to Rossi’s video, Smith reaches for something off-camera, and when his hand comes back into the camera frame, he is holding his 2022 Oscar. He won the award for Best Actor for his performance in “King Richard,” right after he slapped Chris Rock.

The actor looks at his golden statue for a while as if he wants to ask it something. The video, which has over 120,000 likes and more than 1.7 million views, is a joke about the Oscars incident. Many people commented that it was funny. One person said the statue would tell him, “You don’t deserve me.”

Last year, the 94th Academy Awards were full of drama when Smith slapped Chris Rock after the comedian joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head. Smith took the joke as a jab at his wife, who was struggling with alopecia.

Although the audio from the incident was censored, Smith told Rock to keep his wife’s name out of his mouth.

Smith later apologized to Rock and everyone for his behavior and resigned from the Academy. The Oscars banned him from attending another event for 10 years.
