A senior Russian defense official was discovered dead after falling from a residential tower window.

A pedestrian found Marina Yankina, 58, at the front entrance of a property on Zamshina Street in St. Petersburg. She died after a fall of around 160 feet.

Yankina played a major part in President Vladimir Putin’s financing of the war in Ukraine. She oversaw the Ministry of Defense’s Financial Assistance Division for the Western Military District, which played an essential role in the dictator’s invasion. The Russian Investigative Committee has confirmed her passing and is investigating how she fell.

Yankina previously worked for the Federal Tax Service and served as Vice Chairman of the Property Relations Committee of St. Petersburg prior to joining the Western Military area.

According to sources, suicide is suspected. However, the Russian government frequently asserts this prior to any probe in such incidents.

She is said to have played a key role in efforts to generate finances for Putin’s Ukraine war, which has resulted in the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people.

During Putin’s presidency, a number of Russians have fallen to their deaths.

Last week, Major General Vladimir Makarov, 72, of the Russian Ministry of the Interior allegedly committed suicide in a Moscow suburb.

According to unverified sources, the general suffered from severe depression after being sacked by Putin in January.

Colonel Vadim Boiko, the 44-year-old Deputy Head of the Makarov Pacific Higher Naval Academy in Vladivostok, was found dead with numerous gunshot wounds in November. His death was ruled a suicide.

Boiko, who assisted in some of Putin’s mobilization efforts, shot himself five times in the chest in the commander’s office after setting himself up to be blamed for some of the problems that impacted the invasion of Ukraine.
