Maryland detectives did not have to go to great lengths to solve a murder case, find a body, a murder weapon, or even the perpetrator when a man walked into a police station and confessed to killing his wife and told them where to find her body.

In the early morning of February 1, police at the Rockville City Police Station were busy handling other cases when a man walked in and confessed to a heinous crime.

Dennis Morris Hinnant Jr., 29, walked into the station at around 12:45 am and asked to speak to a homicide detective.

According to the Montgomery County Police Department, Hinnant confessed to killing his wife, Taresha Pendarvis, 28. He directed them to where they would find her lifeless body, inside their home in Silver Spring.

Responding officers went to the home to perform a welfare check on his wife. Hinnant’s confession turned out to be true as they found Pendarvis’ body with visible signs of trauma, according to a press release by the department.

The events leading up to the woman’s death are still unclear.

After the police verified his confession, they took Hinnant to the Montgomery County Police headquarters, where investigators interrogated him.

Detectives also obtained search warrants for his home.

Authorities later charged the man with first-degree murder and he is being held at the County Central Processing Unit without bond until his hearing.
