Jay Leno Suffers Multiple Injuries in Motorcycle Accident

Just months after a fire that burned Jay Leno’s face in his vintage car garage in Los Angeles, and landed him in the hospital where he had multiple surgeries and skin grafts, the comedian, 72, had a motorcycle accident and broke several bones.

Leno was hoping to begin performing again in Las Vegas at the end of March. He said, “Then just last week, I got knocked off my motorcycle. So I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps.”

The incident occurred on January 17 while Leno was testing out a 1940 Indian motorcycle. During the ride, Leno realized the bike was leaking fuel, and took a detour down a street that was a shortcut to his garage. He cut through a parking lot that had a wire blocking the entry. Leno didn’t see the wire because it didn’t have a sign or a flag on it. He was knocked off the bike and suffered multiple injuries.

Asked why he didn’t tell the media about his accident right away, Leno, still able to laugh about his misfortunes, said, “You know, after getting burned up, you get that one for free. After that, you’re Harrison Ford, crashing airplanes. You just want to keep your head down.”
