A family in Pennsylvania found dead last week, January 25, in their backyard included a father, mother, and daughter who, according to police, appeared to have all decided to commit suicide together.
Police found 26-year-old Morgan Daub, her father, James Daub, 62, and her mother, Deborah Daub, 59, dead in the backyard of their home, when officers responded to a welfare check call from their neighbor.
West Manchester Police Department announced they found suicide notes in the home indicating that the three decided to die. Authorities believe that Deborah shot her husband, then she was shot by her daughter Morgan, who then shot herself.
Police said that the home did not appear to have signs of forced entry or a struggle, and there was no indication that anyone else was in the house at the time.
Morgan enjoyed bowling, and members of the town’s bowling community described her as a quiet woman and a talented bowler who frequented the bowling alley with her mother until they stopped coming in 2019.
Bret Stabley, the owner of a bowling shop in York, Pennsylvania, said that the duo frequented his shop, and he even gave Morgan many bowling lessons.
Stabley described the family as devout Christians who did not shy away from telling people their religious and political beliefs. He said that the mother and daughter were avid supporters of former President Trump.
Morgan uploaded videos on YouTube speaking about God, the alleged Antichrist and Trump, and the 2020 election conspiracy theories. Stabley said he was shocked to hear how Morgan spoke in the videos and her uncanny laughter, saying he had never seen the 26-year-old in that state.
On Friday, February 3, Detective Timothy Fink said the mother left a note, signed January 19, speaking about a decision they made with their daughter to commit suicide.
Fink said the note also referred to an evil that had mounted against her daughter, but Deborah did not discuss it further.
Morgan and James had left suicide notes saying that the family had decided to shoot each other, then made preparations for their deaths, including instructions for living family members and what to do with their dog.
The notes were signed on January 24, a day before officers found their bodies.
According to authorities, the positioning of the bodies, the guns found beside their bodies, shell casings at the scene, and other evidence supports the family’s written notes that they all decided to kill themselves.
As news of the apparent murder-suicide broke, neighbors were shocked, as they knew the family as a quiet Christian household.
