Two teenagers, an 18-year-old boy and a 14-year-old girl, met online and arranged to meet at her house while her parents were out.
Julian Antonio Pinedo, traveled several miles from Monmouth, Illinois, to Springfield, Illinois to meet the girl.
When he arrived at the girl’s home, the young girl refused to become intimate with him, causing him to become violent and he stabbed her.
The girl’s sister, who was in her bedroom at the time, called their parents after the attack. The parents rushed back to the house after calling the police.
Officers at the crime scene found the girl with multiple stab wounds.
By the time police arrived, Pinedo had already fled the area. An officer from the Waterford Township Police Department apprehended him and took him into custody without incident.
Pinedo was arrested and charged with the assault and stabbing of the 14-year-old Springfield girl, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.
The attacker appeared in court on Friday, January 27, and is being held on a $2 million bond. He will appear in court again on February 7. He was charged with attempted murder and faces a long sentence if convicted.
Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard announced that the teen girl is recovering from her wounds and is in stable condition.
On Friday, Sheriff Bouchard reminded people, especially youngsters, about the dangers of meeting strangers online. He advised people that it was safer to meet in a public setting and not to share information like addresses or information that can help someone track a location.
