Kelsey Turner, a former Playboy model, has been sentenced to 10-25 years in prison in a plea deal, for the murder of a California psychiatrist, Thomas Burchard, MD, in 2019.
The doctor’s body was found abandoned inside Turner’s Mercedes trunk in Las Vegas. It was determined that the Burchard had been hit multiple times by an unknown object.
The psychiatrist was playing “sugar daddy” for the young model, and paying for her extravagant lifestyle for two years before his death. His fiancé at the time, Judy Earp, gave testimony about the couple’s relationship.
Dr. Burchard make the decision to end his relationship with Turner, but Turner retaliated by forging his signature on documents in order to steal the doctor’s money. When they thought they might get caught, Turner and her boyfriend, Jon Logan Kennison, 29, traveled to Las Vegas to murder Burchard.
In addition to the testimony against Turner, police found fingerprints and footprints at the scene of the crime that implicated Turner and Kennison. Blood and cleaning supplies were found at their home. A roommate, Diana Pena, 34, was found guilty of helping them clean up the crime scene.
When she was arrested in 2019, Turner falsely accused Burchard of domestic violence. She also tried to profit from the trial, and set up a GoFundMe campaign to gain sympathy from the public and fund her defense.
