Fake Teen Doctor, “Dr. Love,” Sentenced to Prison Again

A man who spent more than three years in prison when he was just a teenager for posing as a doctor will go back to prison after confessing to stealing thousands of dollars from his employer.

The young man appears to be making a career out of being a criminal.

Malachi Love Robinson, now 25 years old, was handed a 24-month prison sentence last week after he confessed to one count of grand theft and another of organizing a scheme to defraud his employer, according to court documents.

Robinson worked for the United States of Freight in 2020. He told the clients to pay for services using Venmo and PayPal accounts that he controlled instead of making payments to the company.

The CEO and owner of the company, Dan O’Sullivan, discovered the man’s scheme that had already robbed him of $10,000, after he decided to contact customers directly asking them for payment.

After finding out about the scam, O’Sullivan and Robinson exchanged texts. In the text messages, Robinson admitted to defrauding the company and getting the payments sent directly to himself.

In one of the messages, Robinson swore to O’Sullivan that he wasn’t thinking straight when he robbed him and would make it right, adding that he gets some compulsive episodes that make him do things without thinking.

Robinson made national news when he was only 18 years old. He got arrested for pretending to be a medical doctor and opening a medical center where he was known as Dr. Love and practiced medicine without medical training, experience, or license. He even had a website for the center.

During his Dr. Love era, Robinson stole $20,000 from a medical doctor and another $30,000 from an elderly woman when he went to make house calls at her home.

The Health and Human Services Department launched an investigation into Robinson and his medical practice. Cops arrested him after he treated and prescribed medicine to a police officer working undercover pretending to be a patient.

Dr. Love went on the television program Good Morning America a few days after his release to defend himself and claimed that he never said he was a medical doctor. He made the claim that he wasn’t calling himself a doctor in spite of his biography info on his website which said that he was a well-rounded professional that treats and cares for patients. He told the TV program hosts there are numerous doctorate degrees, and just because someone has the Dr. title in their name does not necessarily mean they are a medical doctor.

While out on bond later that year, Robinson got arrested in Virginia while trying to buy a Jaguar worth $35,000 using a stolen credit card.

He got sentenced to two years in prison but was released in 2019.
