Crime in the US has always been a hot topic. The vast number of crimes in the country includes homicides, robberies, and other serious violent crimes, but there are also a few weird ones. From bees being unleashed on officers to a woman who tried to buy a baby at Walmart, we can’t help but cringe at some of the bizarre crimes that people committed this year.
Before 2022 comes to a close, let’s look at some of the weirdest and craziest crimes people got arrested for.
- 1. One of the weirdest and most senseless deaths happened in Oklahoma after a 53-year-old fisherman, Larry Sanders, confessed to having murdered a fellow fisherman and friend, Jimmy Knighten, because he suspected his friend was trying to feed him to Bigfoot. He told the police that Knighten had summoned Bigfoot to come and kill him and then tried to get away. Sanders then strangled Knighten and abandoned his body in the woods. The arresting officer noted that Sanders appeared to be on drugs.
- 2. Wedding guests in Florida became sick after the bride laced the food with marijuana in February. Police arrested the 42-year-old bride, Dayna Svoboda, and the caterer, 31-year-old Joycelyn Bryant, and charged them with tampering, marijuana delivery, and culpable negligence. At least eighteen guests complained of feeling sick or high after eating the wedding food.
- 3. A Massachusetts woman left deputies who had gone to her home to serve an eviction notice swollen and in pain after unleashing hundreds of bees on them. Rorie Woods, a Hadley resident, arrived at her home and found the officers waiting for her. She put on a beekeeper’s suit and opened a beehive. The bees stung several deputies and employees.
- 4. Thirty-six-year-old Chad Mason was arrested for having sex with a Goldendoodle. He had sex with the dog in front of kids before running to a church, where he destroyed a nativity scene and tried to steal a car. Police charged him with indecent exposure, lewd exhibition, and criminal mischief.
- 5. Walmart does not sell human babies, but Rebecca Lanett Taylor did not seem to care when she tried to purchase a baby from the baby’s mother at Walmart. Taylor reportedly offered the mom $250,000, but the mom refused. Taylor took it up as a challenge and raised the bid to $500,000. Police arrested her in January and charged her with attempting to purchase a child.
- 6. Murray Joshua was trying to do a kind deed at a Family Dollar Store and opened the door for two women to enter. But he got angry when they did not thank him for holding the door open for them, and he pulled a gun on them. According to a police report, Joshua did not have a carry permit. They charged him with failing to have a gun permit and other misdemeanors.
- 7. The heir and Chief Financial Officer for Tyson Foods, John R. Tyson, had too much of a good time in November. Tyson was drunk when he got into someone’s house, stripped naked, and fell asleep in a stranger’s bed. Arresting officers had a hard time when they tried to wake him up. He fell back on the bed and continued with his sleep. Police charged him with criminal trespassing and public intoxication.
- 8. Beyond Meat Chief Operating Officer, Doug Ramsey got arrested after biting a man’s nose in September. Ramsey and his victim got into a brawl after a football game after the man’s car clashed with Ramsey’s front tire. Visibly furious, Ramsey punched the man and bit off his nose. He was fired from Beyond Meats in October.

A Florida jogger survived a murder after a teenager tried to kill him, keep his body in his closet, and fulfill all his sexual fantasies. 18-year-old Logan Smith had what he thought was the perfect plan for the murder, but he did not think his chosen victim would overpower him. He admitted to the police that he had watched the jogger for several weeks before deciding to take action.
- 10. Twenty-nine-year-old Corey Johnson stole a truck because he thought he was on a top-secret mission for the President. Johnson stole the truck at Riviera Beach and drove straight to Patrick Space Force Base to warn them about Chinese dragons and aliens which were about to attack. He claimed that the President had given him that message, and he had to warn officials at the base.
