On November 24, Thanksgiving day, an Orangeburg, South Carolina mother, Crystal Jumper, was found dead in her home by police. Her five-year-old girl, Aspen Jeter, was nowhere to be found.

It was suspected that the child’s father, Anwar Jeter, 47, had killed Jumper, and social media was ablast with posts about concern for the little girl, who is disabled; she cannot walk and is nonverbal due to a rare medical condition.

Jumper had been dead for a period of time when she was found. A cousin had called police to do a welfare check when she hadn’t heard from Jumper since November 1.

On Friday, December 9, the Sheriff’s office announced that they had found the girl with her father in Danville, VIrginia. Police arrested Antar Jeter in connection with Jumper’s death and took him into custody on murder and grand larceny warrants.

Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said in a press conference on Friday that the father and child were found around 6:30 pm in Danville in a stolen vehicle. He said the girl appeared to be safe and in good condition and would be reunited with Jumper’s family members.
