Christina Applegate, the star of the popular Netflix show “Dead To Me,” recently shared an announcement of her diagnosis of multiple sclerosis, on August 10, 2021 with two tweets on Twitter

In spite of her challenges, the star said she still wants to complete the final season of the series, and feels an obligation to her co-star, Linda Cardellini, and Liz Feldman, the creator of the show.

“We’re going to do it, but we’re going to do it on my terms,” the actress told the New York Times.

Due to Applegate’s diagnosis, the show was forced to take a five-month break. She said that aside from her physical recovery, she needed time to process and accept the major changes that were about to take place in her daily life.

Co-star Cardellini has been Applegate’s “champion, warrior, and voice.” Applegate said that Cardellini has been really supportive of her during these difficult times.

Multiple sclerosis is a disease of the brain and spinal cord. It can damage the nerves permanently or cause them to deteriorate. There is no cure for MS, but treatment can manage symptoms. Side effects of MS include numbness, tingling, mood changes, memory problems, fatigue, and paralysis.

According to Applegate, she has already experienced balance issues during the show’s first season, but she did not address her issues during this time. She said that she has gained 40 pounds and now walks with a cane.

Netflix’s “Dead to Me” is scheduled to be released on November 17.
