Breaking Her Silence: Casey Anthony Speaks Up About Daughter’s Death

After more than a decade, Casey Anthony finally is speaking up about the death of her two-year-old daughter Caylee. It will be the first on-camera interview with the acquitted mom.

A jury found her not guilty of murder in 2011 for her daughter’s unsolved death.

On July 15, 2008, Caylee, Casey Anthony’s daughter, was reported missing by her grandmother. Anthony told police that Caylee was last seen with her babysitter on June 16, a month earlier.

Caylee’s body was found on December 11, 2008, six months later, in a wooded area. Casey Anthony was charged with child neglect.

During the trial it was discovered that she had lied to police, including telling people that her daughter was with a babysitter and that she had spoken to her daughter before she disappeared.

She was accused of first-degree murder but her jury, after an 11-hour long deliberation, found her not guilty of first-degree murder, aggravated manslaughter, and aggravated child abuse. She was convicted of lying to the police.

Caylee’s death remains unsolved.

Anthony’s defense lawyer, Jose Baez, told the jury that Caylee had drowned and her death was covered up by someone other than Anthony.

Prosecutors insisted that Anthony used chloroform to asphyxiate her child, then used duct tape to cover her mouth.

The case, which had the nation glued to their tv screens, will now be told by Anthony, who is 36-years-old, from her own point of view.

Peacock will present a three-part limited docuseries entitled “Where the Truth Lies,” beginning November 29. It will be about Caylee’s disappearance, her death, Anthony’s arrest, the trial, and what occurred after.

A brief trailer for the series was released last week and encountered mixed reception on social media.

Spoiler alert:

According to People, Casey Anthony accuses her father, George Anthony, of her daughter’s death. She says that she was abused by her father and her brother, Lee. (This has been denied by both men.) She says that her father was present when her daughter drowned and that he “took her from me and he went away.” She says he did not try to give first aid to the child.
