On Tuesday, November 1, a one-year-old girl,  Leylani Ordonez, was abducted by her father, 24-year-old Alexander Barrios Ordonez.

An Amber Alert was issued for the abduction in the town of Rosenberg, Texas.

Before the abduction, Ordonez visited a former employer named Ruben Salazar, stabbed him and stole his truck. He then drove to the house of his daughter’s babysitter and kidnapped the child.

Police caught up with the father and baby in the truck, and a high-speed chase followed for about an hour. The cops were able to stop the truck with a spike strip, but the suspect exited the truck with his child, who was seen to be covered in blood and stab wounds.

Rosenberg Police Department Lt. Suni Jugueta said, “We don’t know the exact moment when the baby was injured. But we do know that when he exited the vehicle, the baby was already bloody.”

After being cornered by the police, the man stabbed himself before the police could stop him. Both he and the little girl died.

Police revealed that Ordonez didn’t have a criminal record.

The owner of the truck is expected to recover from his injuries.

“I’d never thought he would be the type to hurt her,” the girl’s mother, who did not want to be named, told media outlet  KTRK. “When we split up, he wasn’t mentally stable, talking about killing himself. I didn’t want my daughter around that.”
