It has been reported that Tom Cruise, the famous 60-year-old Hollywood actor, is participating in a new movie that will be filmed at the International Space Station… in space!

The movie had been planned, with the director of The Bourne Identity, Doug Liman, back in 2020, but it was postponed due to the pandemic.

The director and actor have pitched their idea to the Universal Filmed Entertainment Group (UFEG) and Cruise will be taking a rocket up to the space station.

Donna Langley, the UFEG Chairperson, told reporters, “I think Tom Cruise is taking us to space, he’s taking the world to space. That’s the plan. We have a great project in development with Tom … Taking a rocket up to the Space Station and shooting.”

That’s the plan. Let’s see what happens. Meanwhile, most of the movie will be filmed on Earth. First, the movie has to “get off the ground.”

If he does go to space, Cruise will become the first non-astronaut to take a space walk.

Cruise is used to stunt work, but this undertaking may be more of a challenge. In the movie “Mission: Impossible,” Cruise dangled from an airplane. He was injured on the Mission Impossible 6 set in 2017 when he did a leap onto a rooftop. He has been seen doing other amazing stunts in his various successful films.

When a reporter asked him at the Cannes Film Festival why he does his own stunts, he replied, “No one asked Gene Kelly, ‘Why do you dance?’”
