Justin Bieber Cancels Concert Tour to Focus on Health and Recovery

World-famous singer Justin Bieber announced the cancellation of his remaining Justice tour concerts, in order to allow him to prioritize his health and recovery. The announcement was made through his Instagram account on September 6. Sixty-eight scheduled shows in stadiums and major arenas from several countries, including stops in South America, Japan, and Australia, are affected by the cancellation.

Bieber’s musical talent was discovered on YouTube by record executive Scooter Braun in 2009.  Soon after, he soared to fame and has made millions of album sales and sold out multiple concerts worldwide. His most recent album, “Justice,” was released in March 2021. The world tour was launched in March 2022, when most countries’ COVID-19 restrictions were lifted.

Last June, the 28-year-old singer shared in an Instagram video post that he was diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder called Ramsay Hunt syndrome. This has caused half of his face to be paralyzed. According to the National Organization for Rare Disorders, the illness is said to be caused by the varicella-zoster virus, which comes from the herpes family. It may also cause shingles and chickenpox. Because of this illness, Bieber was unable to complete the tour stops in North America.

After seeking professional medical advice and talking with his family and team, Bieber was able to perform six shows after the diagnosis. But after his most recent performance in Rock in Rio in Brazil, where he encouraged his fans to continue to stand against racism, he felt that performing was taking a toll on his health and leaving him exhausted.  He realized that he needed to take a break to heal.

Following this announcement, he added that he is “going to be okay” but he needs time to recover. Finally, he thanked his fans for their unending support and prayers. He also did not forget to remind them how much he loves them.
