“Grease” Star and Singer Olivia Newton-John Has Died At Age 73

Olivia Newton-John, the famous co-star of John Travolta in the classic movie, “Grease,” and singer of many top hits, died of breast cancer at the age of 73 on Monday, August 8. 

The Australian pop-singer starred as the endearing character “Sandy” alongside John Travolta, and sang in the film. Her famous hit, “You’re the One That I Want,” was featured in the film, and her 1981 song “Physical” was the biggest hit of her career, and the top hit of the 1980s, spending 10 weeks on the top of the Billboard Hot 100.

Newton-John died at her ranch in Southern California. Her death was announced on Instagram by her family.

She is also known for her song, “I Honestly Love You,” among others.

Olivia’s husband, John Easterling, wrote on Instagram, “Her healing inspiration and pioneering experience with plant medicine continues with the Olivia Newton-John Foundation Fund, dedicated to researching plant medicine and cancer.”

Newton-John was an advocate for cancer patients and survivors for many years since her initial diagnosis of breast cancer in 1992.

She kept her breast cancer diagnosis and treatments confidential, but revealed the news when she was diagnosed again in 2017.
